While it's not actually in Oakland, the Golden Gate Bridge is definitely one of our local landmarks. The bridge opened to pedestrians on May 27, 1937, and to traffic the next day, May 28.
In other words, its 75th anniversary is coming up this weekend!
The celebration, held in San Francisco, will include fireworks, an artists' exhibition, live dance and music, and much more. It's taking place this Sunday, May 27, in several locations in the city. Check out the official site for more information!
