The monthly auction at Clars Auction Gallery is this weekend! It's definitely worth checking out -- there are always some fascinating lots. In fact, I have my eye on a couple of things this month...
I just got back from today's preview. There are some stunning highlights in Sunday's auction, including an oil painting by Parmeggiani Tancredi and a walking cane that Carleton E. Watkins, an early photographer of Yosemite, gave to his father. You'll also see a two-piece bedroom set made by Pottier and Stymus for James Clair Flood, one piece of which is shown in the first picture. These items will be auctioned on Sunday, May 20.
If the $10,000 to $20,000 estimate for this beautiful set is a bit out of your price range, check out the items available in Saturday's auction. As my article about Clars explains, the more affordable items are auctioned on Saturday. This month's offerings include racks and racks of vintage clothes, hundreds of mostly vintage shoes, and -- as usual -- many shelves of assorted items. Take a look at this picture for an idea of what to expect on Saturday:

Great place, fantastic items. This weekends sale is going to be big, I previewed yesterday. From Hermes bags, wonderful art, and superior jewelry, they have it. I have seen museum quality items pass through Clars on several occasions, and its a fun sale to attend.
